We are delighted to announce that Dr Nico Neumann will be joining us as guest speaker at our upcoming Lassoo Market Update on Monday 29th June 2026.
As Associate Professor at the prestigious Melbourne Business School, Nico's work revolves around business analytics and marketing measurement. His work has been published in top tier academic journals and widely-read industry publications – including 2023’s widely shared The Case of IT Decision-Makers, which famously exposed that a random sample outperformed many ‘off-the-shelf’ target audiences.
The event will begin with a Lassoo-led overview of the latest developments within our media and communications industry, followed by Nico’s take on the common traps in marketing measurement, and how better approaches can drive stronger business results.

About Dr Nico Neumann:
Associate Professor of Marketing at Melbourne Business School.
Dr Nico Neumann is a globally-recognised researcher in marketing science. With over a decade spent investigating how marketers target audiences, measure effectiveness, and allocate media budgets, Nico's work has consistently challenged some of the industry's most widely-held assumptions. This includes the widely-shared 2023 paper The Case of IT Decision-Makers, which tested more than 90 audience segments across 19 data brokers and exposed how third-party audiences performed no better than a random sample when targeting IT decisionmakers.
He is a thought leader and subject matter expert in marketing measurement, audience targeting, and attribution, and was named the ANZMAC Emerging Marketing Researcher of the Year in 2021. In addition to his academic work at MBS, Nico is the founder of Marketing Science Today, a knowledge hub for marketing effectiveness, and the author of research that has reshaped how the industry thinks about targeting and measurement.
Regularly called upon to speak at major industry events including the Programmatic Summit, Data Strategy Symposium, Programmatic I/O, and Ad Tech Sydney, Nico is also a regular contributor to leading publications including Harvard Business Review, AdExchanger, Mumbrella, and AdNews, with his research findings frequently picked up by global trade and academic press.
